Self-Assessment Tax Return 📝 2023-2024
The deadline was Friday 31 January 2025 📝
There was no Additional or Extended 🆙 Time 🕰️ to Submit just like some of the previous Years
HMRC will now issue an Automatic Late Penalty ‼️ of £100 to those Taxpayers who have not submitted 🛜 a Tax Return when it was expected
Please note there are many who have applied for a Unique Tax Reference (UTR) for the first time 1️⃣ and quite close to the deadline
Please create a HMRC account 📝 and if you check and monitor with updates for the Self-Assessment UTR
By having a HMRC Account a taxpayer can also access their Employment History for the last few years
HMRC do give 3 months from the issuing of a 🆕 UTR for a Tax Return to be completed which, will waiver the late penalty
If a taxpayer received his or her UTR 15 January 2025 then a Tax Return will have to be filed by 15 April 2025 to avoid ❌ a late penalty
Please note though as per Statutory Law
The actual Tax was due by or before 31 January 2025 for the Tax Return 23-24 and if the Tax due is paid after this date
Late Interest will apply from 1 February 2025 until the Tax plus the interest is fully paid
For those who have missed the Tax Return Deadline and have been filing Tax Returns previously, If a Tax Return 23/24 is still not completed by 30 April 2025 then £10 daily charge will apply
Please try and get Self-Assessment prepared/submitted/pay any tax due
